ATTRACTIONS OF JHANSI

Jhansi, a historic place which lies in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is a city of fierce Rani Lakshmi Bai, she often referred to as the queen of Jhansi. In the year of 1817 to 1854 Jhansi was named as Balwantnagar. It lies in the gateway of Bundelkhand region, on the shores of the Pahuj River, in the southmost direction of Uttar Pradesh.

HISTORY OF JHANSI

Jhansi is known for it's vivid culture, ethnic cuisine, iconic dance and active lifestyle. Gangadhar Rao Newalkar was the 5th and last king of Jhansi. He was first married to Ramabai, shortly thereafter, she passed away. Later in the year of 1842 in may Gangadhar Rao married a young girl named Manikarnika Tambe. In time, she came to be called as Lakshmibai and was given the title of Queen. Eventually, she rose to become the Queen of Jhansi. In the year of 1851 Rani Lakshmibai gave birth to a baby boy who died just after the four months of the birth. Raja Gangadhar Rao adopted a child of his cousin Vasudev Newalkar and named Damodar Rao.

JHANSI FORT

Jhansi fort is situated on the southwestern part of Uttar Pradesh. It was built by Raja Bir Singh Deo of Orchha in 1613. The fort is spread over the area of 49 acres. The fort also has many ancient structure of Ganesh Temple, Shiva Temple, Kalkothari, etc.

RANI MAHAL

Rani Mahal was used by Rani Lakshmi Bai as her residential place. It was built by Raghunath Rao ll (C.E. 1769 - 1796) of Newalkar family. The palace has beautiful floral and faunal design engraved.

KAIMASAN TEMPLE

Kaimasan temple situated on the hill in the Bundelkhand University campus, jhansi. It is believed that Kaimasan temple has great importance in Bundelkhand. Devotees light lamps on the huge Vijay Deep pillar in the temple and people also come for special appearance of the temple during Navaratri.

MAIMASAN TEMPLE

Maimasan temple is located on the hill of Karguan Village, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. It is said that Kaimasan devi and Maimasan devi were sisters and these temple were established on their names. The responsibility of maintaining this temple lies with the Indian Army. Queen Lakshmibai used to come to the temple for worship. People come from far and wide to visit the temple.

MAHA LAKSHMI TEMPLE

Maha Lakshmi temple is situated in Uttar Pradesh, Jhansi at the gate of Jhansi fort. People of Jhansi consider this temple to be very old and the temple of Kuldevi, hence there is a lot of crowd and gathering of devotees here throughout the year.

SAKHI KE HANUMANN

Sakhi ke hanuman temple is situated in Uttar Pradesh, Jhansi.  In this temple, Lord Hanuman is present in the female form. It is considered to be the most unique temple of Jhansi. Along with Lord Hanuman you will get to worship Shri Ram, Mata Sita, Radha – Krishna, Lord Shiva – Parvati and Lordess Durga.

SAINT JUDE’S CHURCH

Saint Jude’s Church is located in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. It is the devotion to St. Jude. It was built by Bishop Fenech in the year of 1947. This church is very popular among Catholics. The architecture of this church is also worth seeing.

JHANSI MUSEUM

Jhansi museum is located in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. It is also known as UP Government Museum. This museum is dedicated to Rani Lakshmi bai. It displays the history of Jhansi and Bundelkhand region. It has colonial-era weapons & coins, and artwork of Mughals. The purpose of making museum was to keep the upcoming generation connected to the fierce history of Jhansi.

SIDDESHWAR TEMPLE

Siddeshwar temple is situated near Jhansi in state of Uttar Pradesh. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. People come to worship him with full enthusiasm.
